The idea for Bangalay first came to Helen and John during a visit to family in Kenya in 2001. There they experienced the luxury, beauty and comfort of authentic African tents. Similar to an African safari, guests at Bangalay will share the retreat with native wildlife, in a stunning and serene coastal location at Bawley Point, which is itself uniquely Australian.

Bangalay Retreat glamping safari tent at Bawley Point

Each of our five genuine African safari tents have been placed to optimise privacy and for guests to enjoy the coastal bush and beach setting. Our tents come from Africa, the home of high quality ultra luxurious canvas tents. All of the traditional safari tents have been complemented by the addition of private ensuites and fully equipped private kitchenettes. Taking glamping to the next level.

The interiors have been designed with comfort and luxury in mind. We have used quality fixtures and fittings, including queen sized beds hand made by a local craftsman and comfortable lounging spaces. Natural fibres and simple color palattes blend in with the environment. Complementing the sleeping and living quarters are wooden decks that extend the living space easterly in the direction of the beach. Here you can sit, relax and enjoy the sounds of the surf and watch the passing parade of kangaroos, birds and other Australian wildlife.

Each tent has it's own 'pod' that contains a well equipped kitchenette and spacious ensuite, connected via a covered breezeway.

For those who wish to dine as a group or in the company of other guests, a fully equipped camp kitchen, BBQ pavillion and communal dining deck is also at your disposal.
